PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator which does not cause increase in outer dimension and decrease in a rated inner volume, and prevents condensation on a rear surface at a low cost. SOLUTION: A refrigerator 1 comprises a machine house 18 at a bottom portion thereof, wherein a compressor 15 and a fan 16 for sending air to the compressor 15 are disposed. The refrigerator 1 is provided with a machine hose cover 11, at the side of a rear surface 5, for covering the machine house 18, while a discharge port 14 being formed in the cover in order to discharge the air heated by exchanging heat with the compressor 15, outside the refrigerator 1 with a blowing force of the fan 16. A rear surface duct 12, which is upwardly open, for permitting the inside of the machine house 18 to communicate with the outside of the refrigerator 1, is provided to the discharge port 14 of the cover 11 in a manner that the duct is not protruded from the maximum depth of the refrigerator.
