PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording and reproducing method that is suitable for recording and reproducing AV data on/from a hark disk and the other randomly accessible recording media. SOLUTION: Two streams being a stream #1 and a stream #2 are set. And 2000 sectors are set about the stream #1, and 4000 sectors are set about the stream #2. AV stream data recorded on the hard disk can be accessed by specifying the AV stream number (#1 or #2) and an AV stream LBA. The AV stream LBA starts from 0(zero) and completes at the maximum AV stream LBA of each stream about each AV stream. For instance, the stream #1 ranges from 1 to 1999, and also, the stream #2 ranges from 0 to 3999.
