PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent a discharge void caused by the vibration of a transfer roll. SOLUTION: The device is provided with an image carrier 1 for forming and carrying a toner image T in accordance with image information, a recording/carrying belt 2 whose part facing the image carrier 1 is circularly carried, and a transfer means 3 for transferring the toner image T formed on the image carrier 1 directly to the image carrier belt 2 or through a recording material K, and the transfer means 3 is provided with a transfer roll 4 which is arranged in contact with the rear side of the belt 2 so as to face the image carrier 1 with the belt 2 interposed, and the transfer roll 4 is arranged on the downstream side in a contact area N where the image carrier 1 comes into contact with the belt 2, and the pressing direction of the transfer roll 4 is set on the upstream side in the carrying direction of the belt 2 from the center line L1 linking between the rotational center 1a of the image carrier 1 and the rotational center 4a of the transfer roll 4.
