摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an array waveguide grating having constitution to allow the easy change of the distribution rate of light to main signal light and monitor light. SOLUTION: This array waveguide grating is installed with an input waveguide 11, input side slab waveguide 12, array waveguide 13, output side slab waveguide 14, output waveguide 15 and output side slab waveguide 14 which are formed on a substrate and a waveguide 16 for monitoring the signal light to the position where the diffracted light of m±i ((i) is a natural number) in the order of diffraction with respect to the light of the same wavelength as the wavelength of the signal light is condensed when the order of diffraction is (m) ((m)is a natural number). The array waveguide near the joint part between the array waveguide 13 and the output side slab waveguide 14 is changed to a taper form in its waveguide width along the progression direction of the light in order to regulate the distribution rate of the light to the signal light and the monitor light for monitoring the signal light.
