PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow control valve being excellent in maintainability and reducible in axial dimension. SOLUTION: An insertion member 27 is provided inside a valve casing 26 and a plunger 28 is provided to be supported by the valve casing 26 and the insertion member 27. The plunger 28 is axially displaced to be seated on and leave a valve seat 30 to open and close a valve passage 29 to control the flow of fluid. The plunger 28 is formed to be greater in outside diameter at one end 36 than at the other end 35 and a mid portion 37, with the one end 36 allowing one end 33 of the insertion member 27 to be inserted therein and supported. Thus, the lid 32 side inside diameter of the valve casing body 31 can be equal to or greater than the outside diameter of the plunger 28 at the one end 36. Also, the axial dimension of the plunger 28 itself can be reduced. Further, a sensor 75 for sensing the position of the plunger 28 can be provided to be contained within the insertion member 27.
