The method involves determining and transmitting the positions of measurement points of cross-hair markings on the components. A laser beam is transmitted from a moving laser distance sensor, whose position is varied until the laser beam image overlaps the markings. The distance between the laser distance sensor and a second laser distance sensor is determined, by transmitting a beam from the second sensor to the first sensor. The measurements are transmitted to a data processing unit.
