A pinion gear (33) and rack gearing (34) for a pinion gear and steering rack mechanism are both screw-type gearing and transfer a level of torque to a steering rack (35). The screw-type gearing has an arched curving gear tooth profile. The gearing teeth set engages between convex and concave surfaces. Combined steering torque and auxiliary torque are effectively transferred to the steering rack and stability is sufficient to withstand torque load due to engine inertia.
