PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent method for controlling a pest. SOLUTION: This method for controlling the pest comprises forming the relative flow of air on the surface of an insect repellent obtained by allowing a carrier to carry 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-4-methoxymethylbenzyl 3-(2-methyl-1- propenyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate as an active ingredient, to volatilize the active ingredient in the air.
