The invention relates to a method for operating a screwing device for producing a defined screw joint (13, 15), by which means at least two parts (11, 12) are pressed against each other with a predetermined clamping force. The method comprises the following steps: detecting the acoustic emission present in a screw and/or the parts (11, 12) to be clamped during at least one reference screwing process and producing a corresponding electrical or optical signal; extracting at least two characteristics from said electrical or optical signal using mathematical methods; determining which characteristic has the curve that best correlates with the clamping force; establishing the characteristic curve between the clamping force and the determined characteristic; configuring a signal or data processing device in such a way that the determined characteristic can be calculated directly from the electrical or optical signal; and controlling and/or monitoring and/or process-evaluating the screwing process in dependence on the established characteristic curve and the signal provided by the signal or data processing device. |
