METHOD FOR DEGRADING ORGANIC CHLORINE COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively degrade an organic chlorine compound containing trichlorobenzene to reduce the total residual organic chlorine content. SOLUTION: This method for degrading organic chlorine compounds comprises a process for distilling an organic chlorine compound mixture liquid containing trichlorobenzene to distill off the trichlorobenzene, a photochemical treatment for dissolving the distillation residues in a solvent containing isopropylalcohol and then irradiating the solution with energy rays having a wavelength of <=260 nm to cause a dechlorination reaction, and a microorganism treatment for degrading the residual organic chlorine compounds with a microorganism capable of degrading at least one part of the organic chlorine compounds except the trichlorobenzene in the mixture liquid.
