PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for marking a steel strip, and a steel strip marked by which a manufacturing particular of the steel strip before cutting is surely identified when manufacturing a prescribed steel sheet by cutting the steel strip. SOLUTION: Marking is conducted on the surface of a steel strip A which coiling nearly over a whole length in the longitudinal direction of the steel strip A. A marking device 1 to mark is provided with a shaft 2 arranged roughly in parallel to a coiling reel 9 to coil the steel strip A, a support means 4 turnably mounted around the shaft 2 and a writing means 7 supported by the support means 4 and to mark the surface of the steel strip A.
