PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter bed capable of easily supplying or replacing a filter medium without requiring a member like a support and a fixing jig when a water passing plate is arranged and a septic tank having the filter bed built therein. SOLUTION: In a filter bed having side walls surrounding four sides of the filter bed, the water passing members arranged to the side walls and the filter media placed on the water passing members, at least a pair of the mutually opposed wall surfaces of the side walls have receiving seats protruded in a horizontal direction, and projected parts protruded in a horizontal direction are provided to the wall surface separated upwardly from the receiving seats and the water passing members arranged between the receiving parts and the projected parts have notch parts so as to be made detachable from the gaps between the receiving seats and the projected parts by moving the water passing members horizontally.
