PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controlling method of a tandem arc welding suitable for condition controlling necessary from the beginning of a welding work through the termination of the welding by a generation of an arc between a forgoing wire and a following wire in order to acquire an excellent welding quality from the starting part to the terminal part of the welding in a tandem arc welding. SOLUTION: A first stage molten metal pool is formed by shifting the arc welding to an arc 5L of a large current and high voltage (Ia1, Ea1) of a steady state welding at the same time of or after the running of a torch Va12, an arc 5T of a small current and a low voltage is generated on a following wire 4 in the molten metal pool at a position where the following wire 4 arrives at the beginning position Ps or its vicinity, then the arc welding is shifted to an arc 5T of a large current and a high voltage (Ia2, Ea2) of the steady state welding and the arc welding is executed while a stable second stage molten pool is formed and maintained.
