PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding device for a sewing machine, and a sewing machine using the sliding device positively prevented from the wear and seizure damage of sliding parts in the unlubricated state over a long period of time. SOLUTION: In this sliding device 10 for a sewing machine, at least one of a sliding surface 11a of a sliding part 11 and a slide receiving surface 15a of a support part 15 is formed of a coating layer 22 comprising carbide carbon, and the sliding device 10 is used for the sewing machine M.
