PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crosslinked foamed item which consists of a rubber composition having a good moldability and has an excellent abrasion resistance and to provide its preparation process. SOLUTION: A rubber composition, which contains a thermoplastic elastomer such as 1,2-polybutadiene or the like, a rubber such as a butadiene rubber, a styrene-butadiene rubber or the like, a foaming agent such as azodicarbonamide or the like and a peroxide such as dicumyl peroxide or the like and in which the thermoplastic elastomer forms a continuous phase while the rubber forms a dispersed phase, is heated in the temperature range of 100-180 deg.C from a temperature of not lower than the one-minute half-life temperature of the peroxide by a margin of more than 50 deg.C especially 30 deg.C to a temperature of not higher than that temperature by a margin of more than 30 deg.C especially 15 deg.C. By this process, a crosslinked foamed item, which has a continuous phase of a foamed and crosslinked rubber and at least a dispersed phase, and optionally a continuous phase, of a foamed and crosslinked thermoplastic elastomer, is obtained.
