PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antistatic agent which is prepared without using an organic solvent eroding plastics and having a problem in safety as well as environmental problems, is excellent in water resistance, and exhibits excellent antistatic effects. SOLUTION: This antistatic agent is prepared by dissolving (A) an alkylene oxide adduct with an alkylamine having a 12-18C alkyl group and (B) at least one acid selected from among citric, malic, succinic, lactic, gluconic, and fumaric acids in water in a wt. ratio of A/B of (90/10)-(50/50). The antistatic agent solves such problems about conventional antistatic agents that an antistatic agent prepared by dissolving a water-soluble quaternary ammonium salt in water is poor in water resistance and its antistatic effect is liable to be degraded by water washing, or the like, and that an antistatic agent prepared by dissolving a hardly water-soluble quaternary ammonium salt in an organic solvent, though having an excellent water resistance, has a tendency to cause erosion of plastics due to the solvent and has safety and environmental problems.
