PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve brightness in a reflection color liquid crystal. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display element has a liquid crystal interposed between two sheets of substrates 1 and 3 opposed to each other, three colors- color filters 4, 5 and 6 each provided in each pixel on the inner surface of one substrate of the two sheets of substrates, a translucent reflection film for covering the color filters and a back light 15 in the back of the liquid crystal panel. The color display is realized, which has black and white display when the back light is turned off and has color display having brightness and high saturation when the back light is lit on, by displaying a black and white screen when the back light is turned off and displaying a color screen when the back light is lit on. |
