PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for a memory module which can reduce the inductance by shortening a terminal. SOLUTION: It is a socket 10 for a memory module in which contact pieces 20, 26 of terminals 12, 13 are aligned corresponding to contact pads 18, 24 of the memory module 16. The terminal 12 comprises a horizontal engagement piece 19 and a contact piece 20 which extends from one end of the horizontal engagement piece 19 like a cantilever without being intervened by a turnover section, each contact piece 20 being able to engage with the contact pad 18 of the memory module 16 one to one. The terminal 13 comprises a vertical engagement piece 25 and a contact piece 26 which extends from one end of the vertical engagement piece 25 like a cantilever without being intervened by a turnover section, each contact piece 26 being able to engage with the contact pad 24 of the memory module 16 one to one.
