PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly slide a holding case on the surface of a holder in an unloading state and moreover to surely execute recording/reproducing to a magnetic disk or the like. SOLUTION: This head feed mechanism is provided with a carriage 21 which is movably supported in the radial direction of the magnetic disk 100b on the tip end of which a lower side magnetic head 24 is mounted, the holding case 22 to the tip end of which an upper side magnetic head 25 its attached and which is hinge connected to the back end of the carriage 21 via a leaf hinge spring 32, and a pressing spring 36 which is latched between the holding case 22 and the carriage 21 and which biases the upper side magnetic head 25 against the lower magnetic head 24. Supporting arms 22b, 22c which protrude aside are respectively provided in both side parts of the holding case 22, one supporting arm 22b is brought into slide-contact with a recess 15m which is formed on the upper surface of a vertically movable holder 15 in a long groove shape in the moving direction of the carriage 21 via lubricant L, and also the other supporting arm 22c is separated from the upper surface of the holder 15 at prescribed intervals.
