The fishing reel has a system for preventing the line from becoming trapped in the gap between the spool (5) and the rotor (6). A rubber ring (10) is inserted into a groove on the circumference of the inner end of the spool. A second, toothed groove inside one of the rotor arms (7) accommodates another rubber component (9) with a lower section which is in contact with the ring when it is mounted in the toothed groove.
