The invention relates to tenocyte cell compositions, especially human tenocyte cell compositions, to methods for producing them and to the use of these compositions for implanting tenocytes in vivo, for treating different pathologies. In particular, the invention relates to the production of suspensions of especially autogenous human tenocytes, to techniques for preserving them, to genetic modification of the same ex vivo or in vivo and to their use in vivo for restoring the ligament or tendon structures affected or more generally, for treating and repairing any clinically significant defect in the tendons, ligaments or other biological tissues containing tenocytes or a fibrous structure.
