The vehicle body has a cross support extending across the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and an external frame profile extending parallel to the longitudinal axis on the outer side. The cross support and external frame profile are connected together by a connecting element (1) which when installed in either one of these parts connects with the other through a clamping connection. The connecting element comprises a base plate (2) and a plate element (3) connected therewith having a through bore (5) and aligned with the base plate at an angle other than 90 degrees.
