A flat heating body has in a vertical plane, a heating plate arrangement (3) of rectangular configuration flowed through by a hot fluid with vertically running convection channels (3). It is provided in the middle of its lower longitudinal edge (14) with a flow connection (15) plus a return connection (16). It is divided by at least one vertical fluid separating point (4) into a flow chamber (5) and a return chamber (6). A connecting body (25-47) assigned to the flow chamber at the upper longitudinal edge of the heating plate arrangement is coupled by a pipeline (31) extending over the convection channels to a valve (32) assigned to the return chamber. The valve is connected with the return connection via the return chamber.
