PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antibacterial agent for controlling and preventing the deterioration of a concrete/mortar structure usable for sludge facilities or the like in a sewage-treatment plant, caused by sulfur-oxidizing bacteria, and further to provide the concrete/mortar structure containing the same. SOLUTION: This antibacterial agent comprises a (crystalline or amorphous) titanium oxide compound having a part or the whole of alkali metal ions of an alkali metal titanate substituted with a metal ion having antibacterial and/or bacteriocidal activities against sulfur-oxidizing bacteria, such as silver, copper, zinc and nickel. The antibacterial metal ion cannot only be carried stably by the structure of the titanium compound but also be eluted sustainably and can effectively control and prevent the formation of gypsum over a long period. The amount of the antibacterial agent is preferably 0.1-10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. cement.
