PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die structure for preforming requiring only small equipment investment and a preforming method. SOLUTION: This die structure is provided with an upset die surface 6 for pressing and spreading part of a bar-like material to be worked and a right shirting die surface 4 or a left shifting die surface 7 for shifting while sliding the other part by pushing the included surface of the other part of the bar-like material to be worked. In the preforming method, this die structure is used.
