PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the winding efficiency of a handle and suppress the lowering of a rotation feeling in a reel body having split two flange parts. SOLUTION: This reel body 2 of a spinning reel comprises the reel body 2a, a lid member 2d, a first and a second flange parts 2e and 2f and a waterproof seal 81. The reel body 2a comprises an opening 2c formed in the lateral part, a mechanism housing space 26 formed in the interior and a rotation supporting part 2h formed in the front so as to be arranged in a recessed part formed in the rear of a rotor and capable of supporting a pinion gear 12. The lid member 2d is freely demountably mounted on the lateral part of the reel body 2a so as to cover the opening 2c and the first and second flange parts 2e and 2f are respectively integrally formed in the reel body 2a and the lid member 2d in nearly the same plane as the rear end face of the recessed part so as to close the recessed part. The waterproof seal 81 is interposingly installed between the first flange part 2e and the second flange part 2f.
