PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ashtray for an automobile having only a small number of motions for detaching the ashtray body and needing no push-down of a crushing-out part. SOLUTION: This ashtray comprises a retainer 1 fixed onto a console section CS with the front face opened toward the car space and forming a space 2 inside, springs 4 provided on the left and right flanks 3 of the retainer 1 and projected into the space 2, shafts 5 each provided on the lower part of the front side of the left and right flanks 3, an ashtray body 8 inserted into the space 2, a groove 11 provided on the underside 9 of the ashtray body 8 and seized on the shafts 5, and clips 12 fixed onto the groove 11 and engageable on/disengageable off the shafts 5; wherein a flank 10 is furnished with a moderation part 14 affording a sense of moderation through engagement on the springs 4 when the ashtray body 8 is fully opened, and a projection part 13 maintaining the openness of the ashtray body 8 through abutting on the springs 4 in the case of the other opennesses.
