PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To insert a die into a die mounting hole even in the case there is a relief part on part of the upper face of the die like a nesting die. SOLUTION: A die D to be changed is inserted to a die mounting part of a lower turret 15 of a punch press by a die pressing face of plural die push members having a die change arm 91. At least one of die push member 139 among plural die push members is freely turned around the position deviated from the center of a die pressing face 137 nearly in the horizontal plane, a die detection device 151 is provided to detect the upper face of the die D at a tip side of the die pressing face 137 of a long size side 147 from this turning center. When the die detection device 151 does not detect the upper face of the die D in descending the die push member 139, the die push member 139 is turned roughly 180 deg. and then the die D is inserted by pressing the upper face of the die D with the die pressing face of the plural die push members.
