PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold the head of a patient in an appropriate posture according to the physique and symptom of the patient. SOLUTION: A headrest 3 is formed on the part 2a of a frame 2 supporting the head of the patient, the frame 2 forming a stretcher body which is movable with the patient resting thereon. The headrest 3 is supported in such a way as to be adjustable in inclination by means of a first bracket 4 secured to the head portion 2a of the frame 2 while pointing to the headrest 3, a second bracket 5 secured to the back of the headrest 3 while at least partly overlying the first bracket 4, and a connecting means for permitting or preventing relative rotation between both brackets 4, 5. A through hole 5a in the second bracket 5 through which the connecting means passes is an oblong hole elongated in the direction perpendicular to the frame 2, and the headrest 3 can move toward and away from the frame 2 within the range of the stroke of the oblong hole 5a. The first bracket 4 is formed with a step 10, and the second bracket 5 is desirably provided with a regulating pin 11 which abuts against the step 10 only when the headrest 3 is lowered, to prevent relative rotation between the second bracket 5 and the first bracket 4.
