PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a goodly water-dilutable resol hardly discolored, hardened while keeping a light color even when the resol is hardened at a high temperature, and capable of providing a hardened product having hardly reduced chemical and physical properties. SOLUTION: This resol is produced by subjecting a phenolic compound and aldehydes in a molar ratio of the phenolic compound to the aldehydes regulated so as to be within the range of (1:0.3)-(1:6) to an alkali condensation reaction, so that the reaction mixture may contain 0.1-10 wt.% one or more kinds of organic phosphonic acid and/or phosphinic acid, or an alkali metal salt and/or an alkaline earth metal salt thereof. |
