PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing rust preventive composition for a storage device which minimizes the generation of outgassing which can lead to the crash or a magnetic head and a memory error. SOLUTION: A bearing rust preventive composition for a storage device contains a carbonate of the general formula: wherein R and R' are each a 13-15C branched alkyl group and may be the same or different, and an adsorbing rust preventive additive.
