PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent resources from being wasted by eliminating useless hand- over and to enhance the communication quality. SOLUTION: In order to select a base station suitable for communication, this communication apparatus is provided in addition with a GPS reception circuit 13 that measures a current position of a mobile body, an operation section 18 to enter a mobile destination, a traveling direction estimate section 15 that estimates an azimuth of an object place from a current position of the mobile body, and an object base station selection section 16 that extracts peripheral base stations within a prescribed area around the current place, calculates the azimuth of the current place and each extracted peripheral base station, conducts coefficient calculation to obtain a peripheral base station whose azimuth is close to the azimuth of the object place by respectively comparing the obtained base station azimuths with the azimuth of the object place as a base station object suitable for the communication, and reflects the result of the coefficient calculation onto the electric field strength of each peripheral base station so as to select the base station suitable for communication.
