PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress excessive fluctuation of the reactor pressure and reactor water level during recovering operation at the time when a main steam isolation valve full closing event has occurred, and to simplify the pressure equalizing operation of a main steam pipe. SOLUTION: In this main steam isolation valve pressure equalizing method for performing pressure equalizing operation of pressures before and after a main steam isolation valve 2 after energy stored in a nuclear reactor is released by opening and closing of a main steam relief safety valve 3 when a full closing event has occurred in the main steam isolation valve 2 arranged on a main steam pipe 9, during the full closing of the main steam isolation valve 2, a turbine bypass valve 6 of a turbine side is forcibly maintained closed.
