PURPOSE:To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material having high sensitivity to infrared rays and high stability by incorporating a silver halide emulsion obtained by growing seed crystals subjected to reduction sensitization at >=45 deg.C by the ammonia process and having an average silver iodide content of >=3mol%. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive material contains the silver halide emulsion obtained by growing seed crystals subjected to reduction sensitization at >=45 deg.C by the ammonia process and having an average silver iodide content of >=3mol%. The silver halide composition of the seed crystals to be used here is optional, but silver bromide, silver iodobromide, or silver chloroiodobromide is preferable, and silver bromide or silver iodobromide is especially preferable. When the composition is silver iodobromide, the content of AgI is, preferably, <=5mol%, much preferably, <=2mol%. It is preferred that the seed crystals has a narrow grain size distribution, and are a so-called monodispersion emulsion, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive body to have high photosensitivity to infrared rays and high stability. |
