The basic frame (12) of the portal cutting device comprises a cross member (13) and two modified side parts (14,15) with straight horizontal segments (16,17), bent all in a piece from sheet metal. A housing (3,4,5,6), open at the top and containing at least one track roller (24,25) and the guide wheel (26,29) is joined to the straight lower side (17) of each of the side parts. The housing is assembled of parts of sheet metal (19), joined by welding.
