Loading data for basic system routines or BIOS

First, an interface is provided in the basic system routines which is independent of an operating system. A processor of the data processing system is set in the system management mode using this interface. Writing of new data for the basic system routines as well as data of micro code update into the nonvolatile memory progresses via the interface. For example, the system management mode is an uninterruptable interrupt with task switch and thus transparent to the operating system.
