PURPOSE: A plug valve is provided to prevent wear of a disk by forming clearance between the disk and a seat placing the disk, and by moving the disk in opening or closing a valve with forming the inclined surface in the seat. CONSTITUTION: A plug valve is composed of a valve body(6) having an inlet(2) and an outlet(4); a disk(8) installed in the valve body to open and close the passage between the inlet and the outlet; a seat(10) placing the disk; a shaft(24) including a thread part combined with the disk; a seal nut(30) connected to the threaded part of the shaft; a cover(38) formed in the upper part of the valve body to cover the valve body; and a handle lever(48) combined with the upper part of the shaft to open and close the valve. The outer surface of the disk is inclined, and the inclined surface is formed in the seat. Wear of the disk is prevented with moving up and down the disk by the shaft combined with the seal nut in opening and closing the valve. Wear in the disk and the seat is prevented with forming clearance between the disk and the seat.
