PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus performing paper feeding action, paper conveying action and image forming action silently and stably, and forming high-quality images on sheets of various sizes and thicknesses. SOLUTION: A paper feed tray 1 serving as a sheet storage part is provided with a paper feed roller 2 located immediately above its end along the advancing direction of recording paper P. The recording paper stacking surface 1a of the paper feed tray 1, i.e., the direction in which the recording paper advances before being drawn into the paper feed roller 2, and an approximately linear path of conveyance consisting of a paper feed roller 1, a transfer roller 9, and a fixing device 11, i.e., the direction in which the recording paper P advances on the path of conveyance, form an obtuse angle. The recording paper P stacked on the paper feed tray 1 is drawn into the linear path of conveyance inside a printer 100 by the rotational movement of the paper feed roller 2 and is caused to slowly change direction along the peripheral surface of the paper feed roller 2 so that its advancing direction coincides with the path of conveyance. |
