PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb filter which has a high filtration capacity and an excellent strength. SOLUTION: This honeycomb filter 9 comprises a columnar sintered product in which silicon carbide crystal grains 16 constituting porous tissues are bound with through neck portions 17. Crystal grains 16 having grain diameters of 5 to 20 μm are contained in an amount of >=30% in the sintered product. 20 to 150 Neck portions 17 of the crystal grains 16 are contained in a 0.1 mm square area.
