An ignition terminal assembly (14) for attachment to an ignition cable (10) comprises an elongated terminal (16) and a C-shaped retention clip (18). The elongated terminal (16) has a forward contact cup (22) in which there is a wide gap (34) at the front end which allows the ignition terminal assembly (14) to be disconnected from a mating terminal at a substantial angle without distorting and damaging the ignition terminal assembly (14). The elongated terminal (16) has an intermediate wall (28) which is joined to a top wall (30) of the contact cup (22) above a longitudinal centreline (20) of the elongated terminal (16) and to a closed bottom wall (42) of a crimp barrel (26) below the longitudinal centreline (20) so that said intermediate wall (28) forms a stop for the ignition cable (10) which is attached to the terminal assembly (14) by the crimp barrel (26).
