PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a cellulose ester film having a high retardation by a simple method. SOLUTION: A cellulose ester film is produced by a process comprising the step of casting a dope or melt of a cellulose ester on a carrier and the step of solidifying the dope or melt under the application of a magnetic field.
