PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underground embedded type storage device capable of reducing an installation area, providing durability against a fire or an earthquake and uniformly keeping a temperature atmosphere constant in all seasons by forming a storage space under the ground with only a space for loading/ unloading required on the ground side. SOLUTION: The inside of a hollow casing 1 forcibly fitted into the ground in the substantially vertical direction is used as a storage space, and rotational annular frame-structural carriages 4 are arranged in a plurality of levels along the inner circumference of the casing 1. In the carriage 4, excepting a partial exception, a plurality of containers 5 are arranged annually so as to be mounted removably, and a part carrying no container 5 is used as a conveying passage communicating with the ground side. On the ground side of the conveying passage, a loading/unloading tower 2 provided with a winch 2a transferring the container 5 for conveying it upward/downward is arranged.
