PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and securely align width of carried articles while securely carrying the article from a carry-in conveyor to a carrying device in a width aligning and carrying device for aligning width of the articles in a direction crossing the carrying direction while carrying the articles. SOLUTION: A carrying passage 20 is formed by arranging plural rollers 23, with inclination so that a carry-in side roller is positioned in the upstream of the other side. These rollers are formed freely to be rotated in the normal direction and reverse direction, and a side surface guide member 31 for fixing the cross directional position of an article G to be carried is arranged in a carry-in side surface of the carrying passage 20. When the article G is carried into the carrying passage 20, the rollers 23, are reversely rotated so as to assist the carry-in operation for the article G, and when carrying is concluded, the rollers 23 are normally rotated so as to assist the width aligning operation for the article G.
