PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently ensure a stroke amount of collapse at collision time or the like, to surely prevent generation of a twist, and to permit sliding in an axial direction of an outer shaft or the like at assembly time of a steering shaft and at running time of a vehicle. SOLUTION: An intermediate pipe member 5 is spline-fitted to an inner shaft 4, an outer shaft 6 is spline-fitted to this intermediate pipe member 5, next respective tip end parts 4a, 5a of the inner shaft 4 and the intermediate pipe member 5 are fitted and pressed by pressing members 11, 12, to be plastically deformed in elliptic shape, thereafter the inner shaft 4 and the intermediate pipe member 5 are press fitted to each other, then a tightening member 14 is externally fitted to the external periphery of a slit 13 formed in a tip end part 6a of the outer shaft 6, and it is tightened relating to the intermediate pipe member 5. |
