PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric reel for fishing capable of returning a spool from a freely rotatable state to a state for enabling the winding of a fishing line by manual operations while preventing maloperation during the fishing. SOLUTION: This electric reel for fishing is obtained by installing a spool 8 freely rotatably supported on a reel body 4, a motor 12 for rotating and driving the spool 8, a clutch mechanism capable of changing over the spool 8 from the freely rotatable state to the state for enabling the winding of the fishing line and a clutch returning mechanism 300 provided on the reel body 4 and capable of rotating and driving the motor 12 by manually performing sliding operations. The clutch returning mechanism 300 is subjected to sliding operations and the motor 12 is rotated and driven to thereby change over the spool 8 from at least the freely rotatable state to the state for enabling the winding of the fishing line.
