摘要 |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the bending strength of a rack bar. SOLUTION: This rack bar comprises a rod part 11 slidably fitted in an oil seal 52 assembled at the cylinder part 51 of a power cylinder 50; and a rack tooth forming part 13 formed on one side of the rod part 11 through a connection part 12 and engaged with a pinion 20. Quenching is applied on the rod part 11 and a rack tooth forming part 13 on different conditions. In the so formed rack bar 10, a non-quenching boundary region M present between a quenching region E applied on the rod part 11 and a quenching region F applied on the rack tooth forming part 13 is set to length shorter than the axial length A of the connection part 12 and deviated to the rod part 11 side at the connection part 12. |
