PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the backlash of an ink cartridge caused by the gap formed between an ink cartridge housing chamber and the ink cartridge and to reduce the occurrence of missing dots accompanied by the impact imparted to a carriage and the ink cartridge. SOLUTION: An ink cartridge housing chamber 9 housing replaceable ink cartridges 7, 8 so as to provide a gap between them and the lid members 15, 16 opening and closing the ink cartridge housing chamber 9 are provided on a carriage 1.
