METHOD FOR TRANSCEIVING MESSAGES OF SHORT MESSAGE BROADCASTING SERVICE

PURPOSE: A method for transceiving messages of a short message broadcasting service is provided to make a base station inform a mobile station whether a presently-transmitted broadcasting message exists, by using a broadcast indicator inserted into a field of a QPCH(Quick Paging Channel), so as to prevent the mobile station from periodically monitoring a common control channel to receive the messages from the base station. CONSTITUTION: A base station transmits a broadcast indicator to a mobile station. The broadcast indicator previously informs whether a present broadcasting message is transmitted. The mobile station decides a value of the broadcast indicator, when a broadcast cycle informed by the base station comes. If the present broadcasting message is transmitted, the mobile station periodically monitors a corresponding channel. The mobile station receives the necessary broadcasting message, as periodically monitoring the channel.
