PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove dust on the surface of a magnetic disk in contact with upper and lower magnetic heads. SOLUTION: In the state of catching the magnetic disk 40 by a disk holder unit 56 and bringing the magnetic head 131 supported by a carriage assembly into contact with the innermost peripheral surface of a magnetic disk medium 41, the magnetic disk medium 41 is rotated. Also, the magnetic head 131 is moved from the innermost periphery to the outermost periphery so as to remove the dust stuck to the magnetic disk medium 41 and then, data are written/read by the magnetic head 131.
