PURPOSE: A microwave oven is provided to improve thermal efficiency of a heater and to protect the heater from electromagnetic waves by forming the hole of a mesh member in a polygonal shape. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven includes: a cabinet with a cooking chamber; a high frequency generating unit installed in the cabinet to supply electromagnetic waves toward the cooking chamber; a heating unit installed in the cabinet to supply an additional heat resource toward the cooking chamber; and a mesh member(51) installed between the cooking chamber and the heating unit, and having many polygonal holes(53) for supply of the heat into the cooking chamber. Upon applying power, a turn table loading food is rotated by a drive motor and a magnetron and a heater are operated selectively to supply electromagnetic waves or heat to the food. The food is heated and cooked by the electromagnetic waves and heat. According to the polygonal shape of the holes of the mesh member, opening degree and electromagnetic wave isolating efficiency of the mesh member are improved. Therefore, thermal efficiency of the heater is maximized while the heater is protected from the electromagnetic waves.
